If I had to name five of my favorite countries in the world, Spain would most definitely make the list. I have never lived there, but I’ve been to Spain before on an extended vacation with my family and had the most marvelous time. Spain captured my heart and it isn’t letting go.
Spain’s capital is just a short(ish) flight away from Copenhagen and if you’re willing to fly discount airlines (such as RyanAir) bargains are to be had!
One day Tania, Greta and I were just sitting there, complaining about how hard life can be sometimes when we decided it would be a good idea to get away for the weekend. The idea was Greta’s, but Tania and I soon jumped on it! For about the price of a train ticket to Odense (a city about an hour and a half away from Copenhagen), we got plane tickets to Madrid!
I absolutely love this city! It is relaxed and regal at the same time.
Madrid is full of grand, ornate buildings.
Madrid has countless statues and fountains.
Madrid has walking streets, plazas and outdoor cafes.
Madrid has a vibrant nightlife.
Madrid has the most delicious (and affordable) food.
Madrid has amazing outdoor markets.
Madrid has wonderful public parks.
Madrid is quaint.
Madrid is full of excitement.
Madrid has weird angel statues dotting its rooftops.
Madrid is a place I will gladly escape to again and again.
And I can only hope I will have great friends to share it with every time I go.

Now I definitely want to go!

We had a friend who bummed around Europe for a year–Spain was his favorite too.
